The Spanish club need to find a replacement
for outgoing boss Jose Mourinho of course and up until recently, Carlo
Ancelotti was the main contender for them.
However,
over the last couple of days, there has been lots of money on Heynckes,
with Coral making him the 4/7 favourite to take over at Real Madrid.
Bayern
Munich midfielder Anatoliy Tymoschuk appears to have fueled the
speculation, saying that he expects Real to appoint his current boss in
the summer.
Tymoschuk said: "I'm not 100% sure. but there is 95-98% chance of Real appointing Heynckes."
This
would be a remarkable twist of course. Upon leaving Bayern Munich, it
was thought the 68-year-old would retire from football management.
However,
the lure of Madrid could prove too hard to turn down, with Champions
League success providing Heynckes with the desire to keep going.
Other
contenders for the vacancy at Real Madrid include Michael Laudrup and
Andre Villas-Boas, but it appears Heynckes and Ancelotti are the front
runners.
