President Barack Obama and wife Michelle Obama will travel to Africa this summer, POLITICO reports. The couple will visit three countries starting in late June into early July.
The trip will consist of stops in the West African nation of Senegal, as well as Tanzania, and South Africa. Last month, Secretary of State John Kerry announced that the president "will travel" to Africa but gave no further details.
Although the news has yet to be officially announced by the White House, the Obama's are reportedly looking to travel overseas from June 26 through July 3.
Despite sharing lineage with Africa (his father, Barack Obama Sr. was a native of Kenya), President Obama hasn't visited the continent much, since taking office. He last stopped in Ghana, for less than a full day back in 2009.
Even though he hasn't made time to get back, Kenyans have long been dedicated to, and supportive of, our nation's first Black president. Obama's grandmother, Sarah Onyago Obama, resides in a small village known as Nyang'oma Kogelo village, and held a celebration in honor of her grandson's reelection to a second term, last November.
