REVELATION: Sherri Shepherd
A star on ABC daytime talk show The View, the issue of abortion arose upon discussion of a controversial Texas law that requires women to have a sonogram – an ultrasound scan – before having a termination.
Clearly stirred by the nature of the debate, Shepherd said: “I’m speaking as a girl who had a lot of abortions.
“I swear to God, if they had shown me a picture of the fetus I probably wouldn’t have but I would have put my child in a lot of situations that wouldn’t have been good because I didn’t have the mental capacity to deal with having a child. It was a hard thing.”
While co-panellists Barbara Walters and Elisabeth Hasselbeck argued for or against the new Texas law, Shepherd claimed that it is a contradiction to deter women from abortions, yet lambast welfare and food stamp recipients for continually having babies.
