Is it really so hard to do right by Beyonce? Honestly, is it that difficult to treat her the way she deserves to be treated? The rules are simple: worship her, pay attention to her, compliment her, but don't talk about her, except do talk about her if it's positive, but not positive and personal, unless she tells you directly, or maybe not, depending on her mood, oh, and bow down, like literally, if you see her, you bow down in front of her, but not in a creepy way, just in a traditional, respectful way. There are more things, it's just that they're in the rulebook and you should really know them already.
And even though treating Beyonce right shouldn't be that hard, H&M went and screwed it up when they shot those bikini ads with her. Can you believe that they tried to take those photos they took of her and edit them?! So disrespectful. So not Bey. When you take a photo of her, if she even allows you to in the first place, you leave it completely untouched, because you can't mess with perfection like that. And if you do, then Beyonce's just going to make you turn right back around and make you un-edit them. And that's exactly what she did.
(Crazy break: of course it would make sense for Beyonce to be upset if H&M had seriously edited the images, like if they'd taken several inches off all her body parts or something drastic like that, but it doesn't sound like that's what happened. It sounds like there were just some small retouches done and Beyonce flipped out. And that's weird.)
For what it's worth, here's H&M's statement on the situation:
“Beyoncé was our only choice for this campaign and we were delighted when she said yes. Our goal has always been to portray Beyoncé as the strong and beautiful woman she is. It has been a wonderful working process and a close cooperation. Both parties are happy with the final images.”
Of course, H&M, both parties were happy because Beyonce was happy, and if Beyonce's not happy, then nobody's happy. That's just truth, and it's good we all realized it now, huh?
