Falcao: My time at Atletico has been unforgettable

The striker is leaving for Monaco this summer

The Colombia striker was delighted to beat Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey final this season and says he will remain a huge Rojiblancos fan

Radamel Falcao has described his time at Atletico Madrid as "unforgettable" and thinks he has had the best two years of his career at the Liga giants.

The Colombian striker has agreed to join Monaco this summer for an estimated €60 million having been chased by the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester City.

Falcao has continued to swell his reputation at the Vicente Calderon having made a name for himself at Porto and the Rojiblancos star is overwhelmingly positive about his time at the club.

"Looking back, from the moment I arrived in Madrid I came to be important, to help Atletico and my goal was to help win titles," he told his outgoing club's official website.

"So, seeing the goals achieved I think it was very positive, in a league that is very competitive and it is very hard to be champion.

"Well, what we have achieved in these two seasons has been a dream and unforgettable and I think these have so far been the two best years of my career."

Falcao lifted the Europa League for the second time in his career in his debut season under Diego Simeone, starred in the Super Cup against Chelsea earlier this campaign and was on the victorious side in May's Copa del Rey final against local rivals Real Madrid.

"The Copa del Rey ... having a history of so many years without being able to beat Madrid, and then to do it in a final [was amazing]," the striker said.

"We had this great opportunity to change that story, to win a title and, even better, in their stadium.

"Achieving this is something that I will never forget, and it will be remembered from generation to generation."

Atletico Madrid play their final game of the season on Saturday against Zaragoza, with the hosts needing a win to avoid being relegated while Simeone's men have third place sewn up.

Falcao held a press conference before the game which was cut short due to the forward tearing up while saying his public goodbye.

"So far, these years at Atleti have been the best of my career and I have experienced moments that I will never forget," he told reporters. "I’m very happy to have won these titles and to have defended this shirt in every game."
